About this Project
Originally constructed in 1934, the Horton Mill Covered Bridge is one of Alabama’s longest remaining covered bridges and a significant piece of the region’s transportation and industrial history. Bob Smith Construction served as General Contractor for the restoration of this landmark structure, working to preserve its historic character while addressing critical structural and safety needs. The project included rehabilitation of the timber superstructure, repairs to the bridge decking and siding, and protective improvements designed to extend the bridge’s service life. Today, the restored Horton Mill Covered Bridge stands as a lasting community asset—honoring local heritage while ensuring continued public access and preservation for future generations.
